Hey, if any of you current students / alumni know of anything about ILR's reputation in the business world? Do ILR students in general have 'better' opportunities than AEM's?

I'm in ILR, but I'm still trying to decide between going on the business route or law school. I know a lot of ILR's go to Law school, but what about business?

I know a lot of investment banks recruit only at ILR, but with AEM and Engineering also being recruited, isn't there a lot of competition within the university? If so, how is ILR's reputation in the business world in general?

And if you're an alumnus of ILR, how have you fared so far? I'm talking about the undergrad degree.

"Hey, if any of you current students / alumni know of anything about ILR's reputation in the business world?"
And ILR and/or a Cornell degree is extremely well respected in the business world. The ILR program is top in its field and Cornell's reputation also carried the degree a long way.

"Do ILR students in general have 'better' opportunities than AEM's?"
Better? I couldn't say. Different and more diverse? I'd venture to argue this. At ILR you have a full spectrum of recruiters from those in labor and unions to the exact opposite sector of business with iBankers and lawyers. There's also the HR/org. development, history, and economics routes as well.

"I'm in ILR, but I'm still trying to decide between going on the business route or law school. I know a lot of ILR's go to Law school, but what about business?"
About 30% go to law school and half seek employment upon graduating. I just couldn't tell you what percentage of this half would be considered 'business' under your own definition.

I havn't noticed any compitition in my job searches, though I tend to use the ILR career services more than the Cornell University career services. For the other jobs, I havn't seen any difference or preference for any particular major over another.
