Does anyone know if it is easier to get into UMass Amherst as a transfer for sophomore year than it is to get in as a first year freshman? Thanks.
I would say that this depends on the particular program for which you are applying. My daughter got into Isenberg as a high school senior, but did not get into Isenberg as a sophomore transfer because hardly anyone had left the program, and there were not available spots. I would say that the same would probably be true of Nursing and Engineering as well.
But for Arts and Sciences I would say that it could be easier to get in as a transfer if you did well for your first year elsewhere. I can think of several students for which this was the case.
Hope this helps!
Exactly - it does depend on the program. Just a note to what BostonMama wrote - UMass Amherst accepts no transfers into their nursing program. If you want nursing there, you must apply as a freshman.
