Info/Chances??

Someone told me to check out UMAA...
I don't know anything about it other than its ranked higher
than Cornell on a lot of things. I never considered applying
to a school outside of the new england/wash dc area so I
need a lot of convincing......can anyone comment on my chances
and give me some info on UMAA??
I have a crazy-overcoming obstacles background (born in russia, travelled europe, family deaths, now in foster care) which shows thirst for learning. APs: literature, language, government, us history, bio. Gpa 4.0, on honor roll every marking period even though I didn't go to school for 5 years (skipped middle school). SAT 1240, ACT 27 (hope to improve bigtime!) EC's: yearbook editor, international club vp, stage crew, art club, nhs, vollunteer (130+), part-time/full-time job. My recommendations should be great too. Any suggestions/comments?

if you can improve the act to a 30 and sat to a 1350, i'd say your chances are pretty good. as it stands, b/c youre out of state, umaa is a reach.

are you a rising senior? i am, and at this point, my app is pretty much set.

I think you have an excellent shot as it is. Your challenging background will only help you, and it's something you will be able to write about extensively in your essays. Also, your GPA is great and your test scores are within Michigan's range. Apply early though!

icicle, what do you mean, you already have your prepared applications for your chosen schools done??

If your GPA is unweighed, given your interesting backgroud, you would be a match. But apply as early as possible.

i meant that everything im putting on my apps is already done
