I realize that we're supposed to hear about dorm assignments later this week, but my S noticed that there's already some information out on the Hub. Last time we looked we say that they had already put how much we owed for tuition and the different fees, etc. on the site. One of those was for housing and it told us what dorm he would be in.

Our only AP score (he attended a residental high school on a college campus), hasn't been sent yet. I didn't realize I needed to until earlier this month.

They also didn't get our insurance waiver, but we're working on that.

My S did get an email today telling him he will receive credit for Discrete Math and will be in 15-211. No word on Calc.

Orientation just a little more than a month away. What looked for a bit like it would never get here is starting to seem like it's barrelling down on us. :)

Hmmm... they are still charging me for health insurance, too, although I sent the waiver. I just have assumed that they're behind in paperwork. My calculus credit appeared online from the AP, but I haven't gotten my scores in the mail or any response about the placement test. They're systems are a bit strange.

I'm anxiously awaiting orientation. There's nothing for me to do here... my friends either have jobs, are out of town, or already left for summer school at UT. So boring for me.

My S took 9 hours of Calc in college, so it's a transfer, not AP. Still being evaluated. As I noted on the other thread, it seems odd, but his second Calc class was all approximation and integration, no differential equations. That'll make it a little hard to know what they're going to want to do.

We eliminated the chance our S would get bored this summer, btw. He has a job. Last week he told me in all seriousness that "working sucks." You should have seen the kick his grandfather, who worked from apprentice tool and die maker to president of his company, got out of that.

I sincerely tried to get a job, filling out applications at least 12 places, and I thought I was about to be hired by one. Then when I called back when the manager told me to... she wasn't there anymore. I did burn CD backup copies of files where my dad works, but that only lasted 4 days.

It can be hard, particularly for the first job. Robert would be happy to tell you about how his parents kept up the pressure until he got a job, the first and only one he was offered.

Note that you need a user id and password to get in. Your user id is the first part of your email address and your default password is the first 8 digits of your social (at least according to the website).

The HUB is one of the best things about CMU. SIO (Student Information Online) is a wonderful service. I have to say that the people that I have talked to on the phone at the HUB have been so nice and helpful.

Hm, I got a 5 on the Calc AB and BC exams, and a 38/40 on the online one, but it has no mention of any calc classes on my AP credits on the HUB.

I got a 5 on Calc BC and AB subscore and a 36/40 on the online placement test and my credits have appeared on the HUB. You have to go to student information online, then grades, then click submit next to the drop down menu that has "AP" on it.
