Inform recommenders of scholarship results?

Hi everyone, I’m a sophomore in college and I applied to a scholarship (given by my college). It’s very prestigious and I didn’t get the scholarship. However, one of my professors asked me to tell him about the result after writing my recommendation. I’m wondering if this is the usual case so that I should also tell the other recommenders about the result? And should I email the professors / go to their office hour…? How should I phrase if I’m writing an email? Sorry I’ve got so many questions… Thanks in advance!!

How about…“thank you for writing me a recommendation. Unfortunately I did not receive this scholarship. But I wanted you to know how much I appreciated your effort on my behalf.”

Thanks for your suggestion… And do you know if it is assumed that I should tell my recommenders about the result? Meaning, should I also email the professors who didn’t ask me to do so?

I don’t know if it’s expected, but it’s certainly good manners and would probably be appreciated.

Unless they ask and you are willing to tell them, this is your privacy. None of my D’s recommenders ask about the results of scholarships. She did sent out thank you notes to all of them, but way before the results were out.
