Informal Survey - Have You Read Your Rec's And/or Gc Rec's?

How many of you have been given access to your teacher rec's or GC rec's? Just curious how schools and teachers differ in that regard!

None actually. I'm just trying to not think about it, lol. I'm sure they'll be fine.

Do people normally get to see recs?

my teachers gave them to me to mail.

depends on the teacher in my school.. only two do that i know for sure

haven't read em, but i suspect they're good

people in my school take the confedential stuff seriously.

I don't know of any GC or teacher that let's people see the recs...and the content is pretty top secret too. So, I have no clue if the rec is glowing or just lame.

u have a right to see your reccomendation, but many school's have other policies. in mine, it depends on the teahcer, but my guidance counselor has us read over them to make sure she didnt make any mistakes.

I saw both of my teacher recommendations (given to me to proo fread)and my counselor rec (I was in her office and it was out on her desk)

My teachers write, seal and sign. I'm kind of scared to think what they wrote, actually :)

I haven't seen them, either...my English teacher let me see what she had checked on the boxes, and they were pretty good, so I'm assuming that her rec was decent...My other teacher and my GC, however...shudders You can only hope!

my school doesnt allow us to see our recs. we have to waive our rights. supposedly adcoms like that because they think the teachers adn gc will be more honest if the student cannot see the rec

I saw the written recommendation from one of my teachers. I saw nothing else...

Your school forces you to waive your right? Isn't it included in the Family Privacy Act or whatever?

My school handles recs on a teacher-to-teacher basis. One of my teachers, for example, prints out a copy of his recs especially for the students. But for all of them, the school requires you to give them a pre-addressed, pre-stamped envelope when you ask them to write the rec.
