Inheritance (Eragon series)

That was weird. The green dragon was completely forgotten until the end, and then it was just a distraction. Shruikan should have been on the cover, really. He’s in the book more. And then Arya was made into a queen just so that she couldn’t go with Eragon… Not the best way to approach an ending, but the plusses of the book far outweigh the minuses, in my opinion.

The cover completely misled me! I read the first few chapters the first time wondering who the green dragon had hatched for and if he’d be on Galby’s side or the Varden’s.
I was expecting him to suddenly show up at any second!

And yeah, I still recommend the series … but the ending still makes me wanna cry.
I hate it when great books have poor endings.

Like The Series of Unfortunate Events for instance. I read the last book when I was little and ended up chucking the book across the room out of pure hatred for the ending.

Luckily, I have matured a great deal from then, and did NOT chuck Inheritance at the nearest wall. But it sure was tempting. :P

I didn’t expect the Green dragon to play any significant role in the book. If you think about it, it’s pretty unrealistic and that was something Paolini did write. Dragons take months to mature and in order for the green dragon to play a significant role in any of the battles, months would have had to pass for the dragon to grow and learn how to fight, even if Galbatorix accelerated the dragon’s growth. And the entire campaign couldn’t have extended for more than a month, because they were losing men everyday and they had to take down Galbatorix asap or they become too weak. So the only way the green dragon could have been included is after galbatorix is dead.

But I think it’s dumb the dragon was on the cover, because his role in the book was almost insignificant, considering Arya STILL became queen

I could never finish A Series of Unfortunate Events. It just dragged on around the tenth book or so. Is it worth picking back up?

NO! I know it’s supposed to be ‘unfortunate’ and all that, but the last book’s ending is incredibly depressing.

^^^
Firnev was the most utterly pointless character. He might have been okay if he and Saphira were to mate and rebuild the dragon race… But there were 243 MORE eggs.

Arya becoming queen AND a rider was just plain stupid, and the whole book is a giant deus-ex-machina. Especially the dauthdaert, which shouldn’t even exist because in Eldest, it was explained that the elves gained magical abilities through the union with the dragons. They wouldn’t have been able to make a magic dragon-killing spear…

Also, I love those that random lady with the scarred wrists who saves Roran and then is never heard from again. Same goes for the lost belt of Beloth the Wise.

This.

I just didn’t throw it because I didn’t want to damage the wall :P

Ha ha ha.

sigh

I wanted to know more about Angela… she was my favorite character!
