hi, I would like to study inorganic chemistry this summer in preparation for the class I’m taking this fall. are there any textbooks that one would recommend? Also, what was the hardest part of inorganic chem? What would you recommend to an incoming freshman about to embark on an inorganic Chem journey?
Any feedback is helpful, thanks!
It appears that courses entitled “Inorganic Chemistry” vary a lot in what they actually cover. I can’t tell whether you are proposing to take an introductory course or an advanced theoretical one. I was a chemistry major and took both kinds. Can you get (& share) the syllabuses of the classes you intend to take?
Yes I will post them within 24 hours, thanks
Oops, the class is actually physical chemistry, an introductory course.

Here is a link to the syllabus
The syllabus shows the textbook that will be used. An obvious idea is to get that and study the parts in it that will be covered in the course before you start the course.
Thanks! Do you know what the usual order of chemistry classes taken to get a chem major is?
How are you allowed to take physical chemistry as a freshman? That should be an upper division class taken in your 3rd or 4th year. You would technically understand all the prerequisite material if you took AP Chemistry, AP Physics, and AP Calculus in high school but you’ll be in a class full of older students that have already figured out how college works.
Your school has a 4-year plan here:

Thanks for the feedback! Actually, I’m a high school student entering my senior year, but I want to get ahead and learn the textbooks that I will need to learn in college, so that getting a chem major will be a lot easier for me. I’m currently struggling in high school to get all As, and I don’t think I can get all As in college unless I know all the material beforehand.
