Hello,

I'm looking for advice about a possible transfer. I'm currently an undeclared student at the University of Michigan -- Dearborn(a satellite campus), where I have recently taken numerous classes involving the Economics discipline. Since I've enjoyed these classes tremendously, I'm fairly certain that Economics will be my designated major, and with that being considered I would like nothing more than to further develop my studies in a more rigorous and eventful setting. Cornell, based on my preliminary research, seems to off this rather edifying experience, and so therefore I am greatly interested in attending its campus. I do, however, have a few important uncertainties.

Having 32 credits, calculating at a 3.84 GPA, I am curious as to if I should elect to wait until the end of this current semester to apply -- when I will have an additional 14 credits. I've heard conflicting general advice in this regard. Some have told me that prestigious universities tend to dislike junior credit-level applications as they reveal a "stepping-stone" mentality in the applicant, especially when the student is matriculating from a lesser-known university. On the other hand, it also seems to be general consensus that universities tend to disregard applicants whom have yet to demonstrate enough academic ability at their current college. Being that I did not complete high school, the latter consideration seems fairly relevant in my situation

At any rate, I'd appreciate any information you'd be willing to share, and anxiously await your responses.

Thanks
