Insane overnight guest policy?

Hi all,

Hoping to hear from some enrolled students on this. I'm a visiting summer student who is going to have a single in University housing. My boyfriend (also a non-Columbia student) is from northern NJ and working in NY this summer. I sort of assumed the overnight guest policy would be similar to the one at my own school (sign in a guest with a photo ID and you're good) but I'm reading on the Columbia website that guests are limited to a 5-day overnight stay in a 30 day consecutive period, with no "repetition of visits". Is this serious/are they actually strict about it?

I go to a Catholic school, and even they are more relaxed than this...for a rising senior, this seems absurd. He wouldn't stay five days in a row, obviously, but repetition of visits? Really?

Feedback would be appreciated

You can sign overnight visitors in at the desk whenever, for 30 nights in a row if you want even. However, the policy that you refer to is the guest pass policy, which allows your visitor to enter your dormitory building even in your absence (so they are stricter about how long they issue guest passes, etc).

Thanks so much!

Hi! I am also welcoming someone this summer for 15 days. I was just wondering whether if you had been able to stay for 30 days. Is it possible to sign someone in for overnight stays for 15 days?
