Intel ISEF Finalist?

I qualified for ISEF in May this year and was wondering if being a finalist and qualifying for the competition is a "hook" enough on its own for top colleges.

I don’t think just qualifying for the Intel ISEF competition is enough since 1600 students across the world qualify. I think if you won a prize or went farther it would be a “hook”, but right now just qualifying is a boost but not a “hook.” Any other thoughts?

On it’s own? No. Don’t get me wrong, it’s quite the achievement and will make you stand out from many others, but you need strength elsewhere as well.

I think it’d make your application look stellar. 1,600 kids is such a measly number of kids in the world; very prestigious honor just to be invited.

Winning would seal the deal though. Sadly, I can’t root for you. My friend is competing too ;)

Alright, thanks for the input! Francaisalamatt, what category is your friend in? I’m in Microbio. :)
