Hey guys, I'm planning on doing research to enter into both Intel and Siemens. We have a friend at a nearby university who would probably be able to help me (Neuroscience). I'm a junior though, and the research would be done the summer before senior year. Would this be enough time to get a project together for the competitions? Also, would doing research without any publications be looked upon favorably in terms of admissions? And finally, if I happen to get into RSI, would I be able to use the RSI research for these competitions? Thanks in advance.

If you’re doing something because you’re not a URM, it’s safe to assume that you’re doing it to get into college. If you apply to RSI because you think it will give you a nice project for research competitions and college, the RSI admissions committee will see right through you; I guarantee it. But the answer to all three of your questions is a resounding “yes.” Good luck!
