Hi! My name is Jacob Reeder and I'm a Penn freshman who has been put in charge of finding new "bandos" for next year's Penn Band. We play at every basketball game and football game (men's and women's, home AND away) and at all sorts of events throughout the year. You don't have to be a terribly gifted musician (or have ANY musical knowledge, for that matter), so at least take the time to check out our website! If you have any questions about the band or about Penn in general, or you just want to chat, please feel very free to email me at jreeder@sas.upenn.edu!

The band website has recordings of some of our favorite pieces as well as pictures, videos, and other fun things. We'll be updating the site over the next few months, so keep an eye out for new stuff! The University of Pennsylvania Band

Congrats on applying to and/or being accepted to Penn; we look forward to meeting you!

From my personal experience, the Penn Band is an incredibly nice and tight knit group of people, so if you’re looking to share a great college experience with a close group, definitely consider joining.

I am passing this on to my son who plays cello (cue Woody Allen Take the Money and Run joke) piano, ukulele, guitar and various other things. Since I don’t think there are too many ukuleles or pianos in traditional band he would be what you call a “drummer”.

But now that I have a music person around…Jacob, is there a jazz group on campus?

Trust me, “traditional” does not necessarily dictate what we do. We have a keytar that is in semi-working order, piano translates well into playing the bells, he can drum… We’re willing to take and run with just about any idea he wants to run with!
