Hello, everyone! I'm really interested in gaining admission to Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism, but I'm afraid that my grades aren't top notch. Does my difficult schedule and unique experience give me a boost?

Here are my stats:

4.07 GPA (Weighted)

Top 25% of Class

32 ACT

Here is my senior year schedule:

AP Calculus

AP English

AP European History

AP Econ

Physics Honors

Theology (I go to a Catholic School)

Extracuriculars:

Editor-in-Chief of Newspaper (I took this position in my Junior year)

Two time State Qualifier for Forensics

Madrigal Soloist

Appeared in many Musicals

I think my biggest selling point is that I've worked for Scholastic Publishing Company as a Kid Reporter for several years now. I've covered a ton of events (such as Obama's Election Night Rally in Grant Park) that other reporters can only dream of gaining access to.

I guess you could say that I have a ton of journalism experience.

My GPA isn't high, mostly because of my freshman year. But since then, I've had pretty good grades. Example: My first year, I had a GPA of 3.4, while this year my GPA is 4.5-ish.

How badly does my GPA hurt? Does everything else help to outweigh its negative influence?

Thanks!
