Interested in Pharmaceutical and Oil Industry...

Background - Honorably discharged from the Marine Corps (5 years of service) a little over a month ago. Going back to school (cc) in January. Will transfer to a UC...

So im going to meet with my counselor at my CC again, to help plan out my educational plan for the next two years until I transfer. I was first thinking engineering, but honestly, in my heart, I dont think I would have much interest in it.

What interests me is Pharmaceutical and Oil Industry. In pharmaceutical industry, I am interested in the actual creation, use, and effects of the drug. I am also very interested in pharmaceutical rep. I know that is a very challenging and competitive field, but it does interest me. I've been reading about what it takes to become a pharma rep, and everything I read says a background in science is good.

With that, I was thinking about majoring in Chemistry. For pharmaceuticals, in general, would that be a good route to take?

Personally, if you’re interested in the pharma or oil industry, I’d go the Chemical Engineering route. Yes it is a rigorous route, however, it would be well worth it.
