Interested in USC -- Any Engi Majors?

Right now I am Junior and aiming heavily towards USC specifically Engineering field. My stats and grades are looking spot on towards getting in but I am having trouble deciding which math class to enroll next year.

Right now I am taking AP Calc BC and that is the highest course available at our high school. I have a choice of either enrolling concurrent at a community college and taking Calculus 3 and 4 Senior year or just taking AP Stat.

I know some prestigious engineering schools may require Calculus courses be taken from their classes so I was wondering if USC will accept the grades I receive from Concurrent enrollment? Or will it be pointless and will have to be retaken at USC? If that is the case it may be easier to just take AP Stat.

What community college are you looking to take those Calculus courses at? There is a pretty good chance that USC would accept them. Using the link below, look up the CCC that you want to take the calc courses at, and see if any students in the past have transfered those classes into USC.

https://camel2.usc.edu/articagrmt/artic.aspx

I would also call USC, maybe their math department, and confirm whether or not they would accept the courses you want to take. Now let’s say for some reason they don’t give you credit, it’s not the end of the world, and you should still consider taking them as you will be better prepared for when you take those math classes at USC or any other school for that matter. Good Luck.

Go to the USC web site and type in AP credit in the box at the top and then touch the go signal. You will see the AP credit situation for Viterbi Engineering.

I was able to pass out of Calculus 3 by taking it at a community college during my senior year. BC should get you out of Calculus 1 and 2. Stats will get you out of nothing.
