So I’m really interested in UBC, but I’m having trouble figuring out whether I want to apply to UBC or McGill. Which one has a better science program? (Environmental science/biology/ocean program )What about the music program?

For science, particularly environment/biology/ocean related, I’d take UBC over McGill. I have no idea about music. UBC would also be harder for you to get in, I’d guess. UBC reportedly has the highest entrance requrirements in Canada, and McGill loves getting US applicants because they can charge them higher tuition. If you have over a 3.7 GPA and a decent SAT you’ll be in at McGill. Honestly, you’d probably get into UBC as well. Canadian schools are public, and aren’t nearly as selective as top US schools. Think more along the lines of UT, Michigan, or UCLA rather than Harvard or Yale. If you have high grades, you can be reasonably sure of being admitted.

Both are great schools and maybe McGill a bit more selective when comes to SAT scores but for environment/ocean related studies you should choose UBC…UBC is famous for its environment program and its campus is right on the sea…
