interesting math track question.

Okay, so with my math track I went
6th grade- 6th grade adv. math (not pre-alg)
7th grade-Algebra I - didn't have a problem with it even though I didn't take pre-alg
8th grade- Algebra II/Trig, mostly self taught with some teacher help. I had nowhere to take Geometry and my Algebra teacher offered to let me do Alg. II/Trig with her giving me assignments from the book. I didn't have any problem despite the fact that what teacher help I got was 2nd priority to the Algebra I class going on that the teacher taught.
9th grade- Honors Unified Geometry- this was supposed to be the hardest chapter, lots of people who had A's have 75's this chapter. I've got a 101 and I never pay attention in class.

What should I take next? I am extremely involved in math team and the math team coach is the Honors Alg. II/Trig at my high school. I have been teaching myself a little pre-cal already (I've got complex numbers and a little bit of trig down) and I don't know if I can deal with the boredom of another unchallenging math class, especially one I've basically already taken. These are the options and probable effects-

Take Honors Alg II/Trig. Be extremely bored but have my math team coach happy (which I want).
Take Honors Alg II/Trig and Honors Pre-cal concurrently. Have my math team coach happy, although I couldn't take math team class.
Take Honors Pre-cal. Make my math team coach potentially mad, but...
-Get Calc BC in and have a good AP score on apps as well as a better GPA (might push me into valedictorian)
-It works out that I could also take AP Stats, and again, get higher GPA and boosted rank
-be actually challenged in a math class, and love it.

You seem a bit arrogant.
I’d go with Calc or Pre-Calc.

If I seem arrogant, it’s because I’m trying to express that I love/don’t have trouble with math. I friggin’ suck at English and biology. to say that I am very involved in math team is just the truth. sorry if I came off the wrong way…
thank you for the input.

this really isn’t a very interesting question…

take honors pre-calc if that’s the level you’re at; your mathlete coach is seriously unintelligent if he doesn’t want you taking the best math class you can.

Just take the hardest one, I mean it’s just math, if you’re good enough you should be able to survive any high school math (heck I ran out of math courses at my school… and I don’t even do math team anymore really)

Why would your coach be happier with you taking alg2/trig than precalc? Alg2/trig is way easier than precalc. No matter how smart you are, don’t take calc bc unless you’ve taken precalc. I know a lot of smart kids in bc and some of them still aren’t doing so well as compared with precalc.

If you haven’t already, if I were you, I’d look into math competitions, AMC/AIME/USAMO, USAMTS, ARML that kind of stuff, and look at Art of Problem Solving, the original books and the online forum.
