Interior Design

I was recently accepted into the interior design/architecture program at Miami. Do any current students have any information on the quality of the program, faculty, job placement, etc.? Any negatives about the program? Do all of the architecture school students live in the Western campus? If so, what is it like living in that part of campus?

Congrats artm!!!

Don't know about the living arrangements, up until this year, Western was mostly for WCP (Interdisciplinary Studies) students. That is all changing with the program changing. Western is one of the prettiest parts of campus and nice and quiet.

What I can tell you is that even when I went there (in the dark ages :) ) the architecture program was outstanding and I believe it has only gotten better!

I am sure someone else can answer these things better than me, give one of the regulars a few days to respond (it actually might be spring break right now).

The Fisk Guide rates MU Arch highly in its listing of national programs. Also, if I'm not mistaken, even before the changes at Western, Arch students were affiliated with Western for their first year.

I know a current Sophomore at MU who started in interior design but moved to full architecture. She lived on Western as a Freshman last year and loves the arch program at MU. (However, she said she didn't like the long hike from Western to class.) MU Arch appeared more laid back than most arch schools I visited with my D and it appears to emphasize more arts and letters courses in addition to the usual studio & technical courses.
