What's the process involved in transferring from CAS to the Hotel School? I'm going to be a freshman next year and when I was applying I thought CAS was the best fit for me. However, now that I've had time to think about it and have done a hospitality-related internship, I'm pretty much convinced I want to study Hotel Administration. Will this be possible? I've heard a little about the Internal Transfer Division, but some things are still fuzzy. Can I switch right now or do I have to wait a semester? If I have to wait, won't I be behind when I finally switch into the Hotel School? I know the Hotel School has certain classes they have freshman take and I wouldn't want to be a sophomore taking freshman classes. Anyone who's been through this and can offer some help would be greatly appreciated.

You have to wait a semester. Talk to your faculty advisor about which classes to take (you can just take hotelie classes if you're 100% sure you want to switch). It's not hard to switch, as long as you have decent grades. Doesn't have to be spectacular.

Will my arts and sciences advisor be able to properly advise me and help sign me up for the required hotel classes though? I know that some of those classes are for hotel school kids only, so how would I get around that during the first semester?

worst comes to worst you'll just have less free electives available when you're an upperclassmen as you'll be taking the required hotel classes
