Hey friends,
SO I am currently a freshman at UT in the College of Liberal Arts. I am planning on doing an internal transfer to civil engineering in the Cockrell School. I’ve been keeping up with all the class requirements I have to take care of (i.e. taking the intro civil engineering course, taking chem/calc/physics) so I’m not worried about meeting the class requirements. I AM however getting incredibly worried about my GPA. I think the pressure of making a strong GPA above a 3.6 is getting to me, and I have no idea how it’s all going to end up. I currently have all B and B+ grades. I’m hoping to make an A- in two of my classes, but at this rate, everything I do just seems hopeless.
It’s taken a toll on me mentally, and my confidence level has dropped significantly to a point where I get nervous about being tested on material that I already know. Example: my Calc 1 test was a few days ago, and although I had takenup to calc 3 in HS, I am pretty sure I failed this one miserably due to anxiety. I really want to get into engineering, but it seems like all of my grades are falling short of what I need them to be, and I’m just not sure how to cope with all of it.
I would greatly appreciate any advice on internal transfers, perhaps an anecdote of your own struggles and how you got through them. I want to know if there is any hope left for my future in engineering. Any advice is welcome!
Thanks so much, cheers.
