thanks

I am an international student, haven’t heard anything yet though! I’m really excited I hope it won’t take so much longer. Thanks for starting this threat though. I’m hoping to hear from more people about this :)

I am following people’s thread on this website, apparently doesn’t seem like there are a lot of international students here. Anyway, let’s keep our fingers crossed, do you know exactly how do they notify international applicant? Is it the same thing I mean with a phone call followed by a fedex package,

I have no idea how they will notify us. I’ve been trying to look it up online but it doesn’t say anything. I just hope they do it soon because other schools are expecting you to make a decision by may. Yes lets keep our fingers crossed! I hope it will all work out!

hey, just read off from the ED thread someone whose international student got a schedule for a phone interview. now I guess I am into panic stage…

may be he applied way earlier than us (self-consoling) :)

im an international student. I was accepted on the 2nd of April.

when did you apply? sickofschool

I submitted everything on 1st April, so they sure won’t make a decision on 2nd of April.

did you apply for ED?

All of my documents were in by mid feb. Im a transfer applicant.

thanks. so you also waited about more than 4 weeks right. thks

Abt 6 weeks.

thanks for your reply. I asked them today and they said that when they receive a complete application they will make a decision within 6 wks so two more wks for me. the waiting is killing me.

Hey sickofschool congratulations!!! This is exciting! Would you mind telling us a bit about you like your stats (gpa, extracurriculars etc.) Are you transfering from another college or a community college?
Thanks!!!

I have a 3.8 GPA from NYU. Im a non-traditional applicant because i did 2 years of army. Im still contemplating whether i should go though. What do you guys think?

Well it depends, what are you interested in? You must have had some reason that convinced you to apply to Columbia while studying at NYU. I would love to give you more imput on that, would need to know a little bit more about you though!!!

well, i was really excited about GS at first. But after reading so much here, im a lil skeptical.

Hey sick - I started to have some doubts after reading these forums too, specifically how the school is perceived from the outside. But, after reading specific notes from “20010531” and seeing how other schools that I’ve been accepted to would treat me, I’m more excited about GS than ever. I recently was accepted to UCLA and have been torn, because at UCLA, I’d just be any other undergraduate and no one would ever question how “Ivy League” my degree was, or if I got in through a “backdoor”. But then when I was looking at UCLA requires you to do once accepted, and there were a few things that bothered me. For example, they require all transfer students to take an alcohol education class to warn against binge drinking and partying. Now, this is fine, but I’m a bit older (though not that older, 22), and have been working full time for six years and don’t “party” in the way, I suppose, they think incoming students do. In this case, me being lumped in with all the other undergraduates isn’t a good thing in my eyes - they are assuming some things about me that I didn’t like. The fact that GS supposedly gives a more grad school-like experience is what I think is so great about it! It seems to me that they don’t talk down to you and everything is more individualized.

I don’t know what your experience has been at NYU, but I think GS offers an interesting and different opportunity for all of us and I can’t wait to get started.

im 22 too. But i dont really mind all that you have mentioned. I had to do alcohol 101 in NYU too. Thanks for your help anyway! I will continue to think about it.

Oh! Then why are you skeptical?

I dont know whether Columbia GS is better than NYU. Im not sure if its worth it to leave.
