International Applicants

Im Chinese and moved to Canada when I was ten. Do i have a less chance of getting accepted b/c of this?

If you need a lot of financial aid, then probably.

stanford only offer 20 full rides for international applicants and FA is all or nothing. you either get the 20 full rides or you are rejected :-P

Are you both sure that Stanford will reject on the basis of financial aid? In the past, they did accept, even if they weren't planning on providing the aid you needed. Of course, that was some time back, but it would be a step backwards for them to deny on that basis.

YES, they are not need-blind for internationals

I heard my information directly from the Stanford Admission Officer herself.

hrm does anyone know if there's a difference between applying for SOME aid and FULL aid? like 20% vs 100% (in terms of the adcom decision)

Only TWENTY?
TWENTY out of all the FA applicants in the world!?

IHateS@T... you are in the exact same situation as me O_O Chinese, moved to Canada at 10... haha wow

does it also hurt your chances if you are american but grew up somewhere else

^no you are still considered a Domestic Applicant so you pretty much face the same chances as someone living in the US...
