How difficult is it to get into this program? Do they consider high school grades, SATS, etc. and the first (two?) year(s) of college. Or do they only look at your college record?

very difficult. I believe that they admit you junior year and only accept 60 students per year, based on your grades at USC.

They will look at your college GPA as well as international aspects of your resume. Travel experience, languages (preference given to less commonly taught languages), and extracurriculars. If you go on the Moore School website, they have a very detailed explanation and you can take a look at the application from past years.

Freshman year, half the people you meet will say they're International Business. Considering in second semester of sophomore year only 50-60 will be admitted, many of those answers will change. I'm pretty sure it's 100% based on the first two years of college, and yes, languages, etc. are very important.

it's really not as hard as they would want you to believe. the admissions rate is about 50% (out of 100) since most people are turned off by the language requirement and having to write essays

I have a few questions on this

What is the language requirements?
Also Ive been taking spanish all through high school would it be best if freshman year I took spanish along with another language?

ultimately you would minor in a language. when you apply for the major as a 2nd semester sophomore, you need to have completed 2 200-level classes. that would mean 4-5 classes if you starting from the VERY beginning. it really depends on how much of the language you know coming into college, as would be measured by your placement test that you take before orientation.

if you want your minor to be in spanish, then you want to do pretty decent on the placement test so that you could place into a higher level 100 class or a 200-level class. if you want to pick up a new language, that would be hard to do since business majors have to complete a bus-load of general ed. requirements before sophomore year. you can talk to the advisor more about it

Can i continue Spanish along with taking another language? would that make my application look better

where do you get the figure that only 100 actually apply ? If that's accurate it would change the whole perception of the admission difficulty for the major since they accept 50-60,and we've always heard its so difficult to get accepted. I'm curious,in a good way, where your info came from.

i heard the number at orientation last august. if you call the undergrad business office they can confirm that.

like steeler said earlier, most freshmen coming in say they're going into ib but by the time 2nd semester sophomore year rolls around, many people either a) have lower gpas mainly because of the rigorous core business classes, b) haven't fulfilled the language requirement, or c) don't feel like writing essays.

thats really interesting news...no need for me to call and confirm,my kids already there in another major.
Its interesting to find out that the freshman/soph courses,grades/language reqs work in a way similar to the "weeding out" engineering and pre-med courses and therefore you wind up with a 50/50 chance if you make it as far as the application.
