I’m impressed by a Yale student’s somewhat recent feature film on the elite college admissions process. He speaks to the international obsession with the Ivy brand and the impact of social media on the applicants. It seems to me the quintessential CC movie.
I’m amazed that a college freshman could pull of such a technically adept and well-written feature film.
Although this movie was informative, I kind of regret watching it. The main character in this movie seems to me like a total ass. Who the heck is that obsessed into getting into Ivy League schools? Im glad he got rejected by the entire league(except Harvard) in the beginning. He seemed to only go after the name. He didn’t even pursue the things he was happy about in life. He only did it for college. So what if he got into Harvard in the end? A lot of colleges provide excellent education? With that kind of thinking and attitude, he is not likely to be successful or content with his life.
@nevergiveupp Yeah, I know plenty of people who are a little tunnel-visioned and only want to get into a certain set of schools or one particular university. While ambition is high and that’s somewhat admirable, it can also be unrealistic.
I think my son is a counterpoint to this wonderful film… he wanted Yale because of the residential college system. He loves that there are 100 people living pretty-much as a home-away-from-home for four years. That’s why he chose Yale. He’s a Sophomore now, enjoying every moment. We still can’t believe our good luck.
