Okay, I called MIT international office today to ask some questions about the FCF and let's just say they were far from clear.
So I thought I'd ask on here...
On the form it says "I certify that $....... is available..."
Is the amount of money you put there equal to the total funds or just to the parental contribution. To me it would make more sense if it were total funds, but it doesn't tell you anywhere.
Also, there's a line next to STUDENT CERTIFICATION, are we meant to write anything there?
Any help would be appreciated.

Kellas- when did you get the FCF? I've sent in my financial aid stuff, so I guess they'll be sending it soon, but I haven't got it yet.
No luck with email? I'm still stuck trying to figure out when my I-20 comes.

No luck yet.
And isn't the FCF (which came in the pack with my acceptance letter) got to be sent to MITbefore they send you the Certificate of Eligibilty, ehich is the I20? Or am I just completely confused.... I Hate this VISA thing

Yeah, I asked my dad and he said he filled out my FCF.
And the bit that you have to certify, I'd say that it's how much money you're supposed to pay to go to MIT. So total minus financial aid, I guess. Also, living expenses.
When we sent my FCF my dad had the bank issue a statement saying that he was capable of paying the fees for the school year.
And the I-20 comes TWO WEEKS after the FCF is sent. Two. Weeks. Visas do indeed suck, and visa officials are generally condescending, rude people. Well, ours seems to be.

I wrote in total funds in the end, cos I called them again as i was filling in the form and they said total funds, but I dont thikll make a difference if you send in the bank statements, and now the rest "should" be easy enough, just VERY time consuming. Getting the VISA ain't hard, just the paperwork is tiresome. Btw, Impied, where you from?

Oh, I live in the Philippines, but I'm actually half Indian and half Bangladeshi. Bizarrely enough, I have Swedish citizenship. :)
