I am trying to choose between U of R and Boston University. My interest is in international relations/affairs. BU has a specific IR department, and a huge number of courses in that area… but U of R has the flexible major, and good internship programs overseas… U of R also seems to have a better overall reputation (?).

Perhaps you can search around this site and also the BU site for "study abroad" programs which also includes D.C. Many IR kids choose London or Geneva for their semester(s) abroad. Looks like IR has many different sub programs and a renowned faculty.

I'm sure Richmond has an excellent program too and its not too far from D.C. You can't go wrong with either since they are both excellent schools. Because of its location, BU may have more international students on campus so that is something to consider. I read that BU just started a new program for Arabic language/culture immersion.
