International Relations major considering transfering

First off, as of 2 months ago I was for sure transferring rather than considering it. Background: I didn't do well in high school and ended up going to a mediocre regional school, Northern Michigan University. I'm a 3Rd semester student and currently have a 3.88 GPA and quite a few EC's so my expectations from those around me is to transfer. Thing is, I really love this place. I've never been more content in my life. It's not even my group of friends but the place - unlimited nature and just a very nice energy here.

My question to you guys is, as an IR major looking to go on to graduate school, would I be throwing quite a bit of my future away if I chose not to transfer?

IMHO, no you will not! Please get rid the prestige idea out of your mind. If you do well in the current school, you will be able to get to a highly ranked Graduate School for IR such as Georgetown or Harvard.

I’ve heard that for I.R. foreign work experience/internships play a pretty big role in Grad school admittance. So as long as you maintain that GPA and show your future school that you had some great internships, you’re set!
