internal transfer

Hey everybody!

So currently I am a rising Sophomore in NYU CAS contemplating an International Relations Honors major. The IR major requires an application and a minimum GPA of 3.65.

But I was also considering an internal transfer to Stern with around a 3.7 GPA. In Stern, I would probably major in Economics with a possible minor in East Asian Studies.

Do you guys think that, for someone looking to go into business as a career, Stern Economics majors would be just as suitable and desirable for i-banking positions as are Stern Finance majors? Also, what do you think about International Relations majors in terms of getting i-banking positions? Would firms like the fact that it's not business and that it's an Honors major where you have to maintain an A- GPA?

Oh yeah! also, as an internal transfer applying as an incoming Junior, would SAT scores be relevant at all? I didn't do so hot....(low 2100s superscored and about a 1400 on cr/math)

Any help would be gladly appreciated!!

bumpppppppppppppppppppppppppp

IMO, I think the IR honors major would look just as good as a Stern Finance major. Idk if it would necessarily give you an edge in getting an I-banking position though…

thanks bdl108!

anyone else have any input?

You already posted on Stern. Either way you’ll be fine.
