International Relations worth anything?

I'm very interested in majoring in International Relations because I want to be involved in helping people across the world. I'll be attending William and Mary and I know they have a very good program in IR but I don't exactly know what I could do with this major. My dad tells me I need to double major in business or at least minor in some form of business degree to make IR worth something but I've always seen the business world as very cut-throat and cold hearted and I don't want to work for anyone like that. Is there anything else I could pair this major with? What could I do with this major upon graduation? I should be fluent in Spanish by the time I graduate as long as I take more Spanish classes (I'm categorized as proficient now) if that helps.

How do you know that the international relations world is any different?

Your father makes sense.
