International Relations

Hello parents!

I have a favor to ask, if I may. I have a friend in Singapore who wants to come to the States to study, and she asked me if I knew of good schools to study International Relations and Affairs. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Georgetown, and unfortunately I lost all my college search books in a fire. If any of you are willing to give me a few names, I would really appreciate it on both of our behalves. Thanks!

There are a ton of threads on this but to get you started:

Georgetown
Tufts U
Johns Hopkins U
George Washington U
American U

There are plenty more, but these are usually the ones people first think of. IR is a pretty popular major so it's very competitive especially at these universities where they are known for their programs.

There are indeed a good number of past threads on this subject. In addition to searching the past threads, an indirect way that may yield good results is to look at the matriculation of SAS in Singapore. Since many students from that school have an interest in International Relations, it is a good idea to check the schools that are popular. The correlation between the schools that are known for good IR departments and the SAS matriculation list is high!

PS FWIW, when checking the schools, do not rely on "reputation" solely. It is important to analyze the size of the faculty, and verify the CURRENT ratio of teachers versus ... the ones who are supposed to be there. :)
