International Relations

What are some good schools for schools (a few safeties, targets, and reaches) for programs International Relations for:

projected cumulative GPA of 3.3UW (too many Bs and Cs), 3.6W student (average honor course load, 3 APs). I am in the top 25% in one of the top ranked public high schools in the

Decent extracurricular:
Chorus (Since Freshman Year)
Cricket Club (On Chairboard, since Sophomore)
Young Democrats (Junior Year)
Student Humanities Club (Secretary, club representative, Junior Year)
Model United Nations (Founder/Advisor, Junior Year)
French Honorary Society (Junior Year)
English Honorary Society (Junior Year)
A book critic for a top New York City publishing company since freshman year.
Will have over 150 hours of community service.

Plan to have around a 2100 projected SAT score (around 600M, 700CR, 800CR).

I'm currently at GWU, American, Rollins, McGill, Bryn Mawr, Northeastern, even the Geneva School of Diplomacy (which is the a complete reach, I shouldn't even consider it.)

I'm a black female and a Canadian born citizen (if that would help me with McGill!)

You could also look at Georgetown University (it's a reach for most people, if not all), they have a very good Int. Relations program

I'm a junior btw.

Georgetown is extremely selective.... I won't even bother applying there.

you could try and apply to Gtown college and then transfer to SFS...but I don't know if you'd want to do all that

At Gdub, American, and Northeastern you have a good shot (don't know much about the rest). Do you know your exact rank?

Look into University of Miami (FL). It has an interdisciplinary International Studies program allowing you to focus on a specific area within INS. The program requires a second major, but is well-worth it. In addition, the U is very diverse and has a high international student population. It is located in Coral Gables, a safe and beautiful suburb of Miami which is next to Coconut Grove (a popular place on the weekends with clubs, restaurants, cafes, etc.) and 20 minutes from South Beach.

Hahahaha UMiami... my sister went there, it's a definite on my list to apply to. I love the coconut trees there.

You mean Georgetown University theThoughtProcess, because GTown College does exist.

Gtown college = Georgetown College. There's really a place called "Gtown" college?

You're on par with me actually and with same interests.

You'd do better with Tufts than Northeastern, much better IR program.

Also try Claremont McKenna (you may like Pomona as well, but McKenna has the stronger program).

If you like the palm tree and Miami beach, try Pepperdine's IA program.

Also, try Wellesley as well, they are picky, but not statistically selective.

As for safeties:
Dickinson
Clark
Mills
Colby
Goucher
Ursinus

Bryn Mawr will be a reach, but apply anyway!

College of Arts and Sciences at Georgetown Univ. is called Georgetown

College. Anyway, I am planning to study IR in college like you! I am

from Korea but went to HS in Massachusetts. I got into

Boston Univ, George Washington, American, Lewis & Clark

College, Univ of Wisconsin-Madison, and Univ of North Carolina-Chapel

Hill. I got rejected by Georgetown(my 1st choice:-( ), Brown,

Swarthmore, Tufts, JHU, WashU, and Emory (I got waitlisted and then

rejected by last two).

I am gonna go to UNC btw.

Best wishes for your college application :-)

I don't think georgetown's SFS or Tufts's IR program is out of your reach.

You must be on crack.

Denison gives out good merit aid.

A 1300ish SAT and a 75th percentile class rank in a public school makes Tufts and Georgetown a big reach.

Georgetown COLLEGE is in Kentucky.

I California there is Claremont-McKenna and USC (Second oldest IR program in the Nation).

Okay Georgetown College is like a college within Georgetown University, right? Like SFS and Georgetown College is all apart of Georgetown University, right? I think Georgetown College in Kentucky is just a random small school with the same name.

Georgetown University (GU) in Washington, D.C. is composed of several colleges. The general liberal arts college at Georgetown is called Georgetwon College. Another college at GU is Walsh School of Foreign Service. There is also McDonough School of Business, and School of Nursing. These are apart of GU.

When most mention GU and discuss Georgetown College, their speaking of the college withing GU.

However, there is a Georgetown College in KY that pales in comparison to GU.

In terms of IR programs, Georgetown has one of the best in the nation. But look into GWU in D.C. as well.
