Is Johns Hopkins recognized outside of medicine overseas? Are there any international students in here that can vouch for Johns Hopkin's reputation in places like the EU and Asia?

There probably are. Johns Hopkins has an advertising/recruitment department that spends X amount of money every year to get other info about JHU out to international applicants.

I know for sure people hear about JHU's Computer Security department.

Well, here in India JHU pretty much = great med school.

Naturally overseas in the EU and in Asia, Hopkins has a strong reputation for not only medicine, but any discipline in the hard sciences (bio, chem, biomed. engineering, chemical eng. etc).

However, Hopkins is also quite well known for other disciplines as well much attributed to the strength of the **International Relations **department. Johns Hopkins alumni are found in almost every country and particular strength in Asia, notably South Korea and Taiwan. In Europe, there is a great rep for Hopkins in the UK, France, Greece and Turkey based on sort of circumstantial evidence.

I believe the international percentage of students at JHU is quite strong, about 8% from what I can tell which is outstanding from about 70 countries. Like at most institutions, academic reputations are naturally derived from outstanding graduate programs and that is no different at Hopkins. Sure, people know the Med School but when people leave Hopkins and want to work overseas, I doubt they're having any problems because the people who need to know, do know.
