i'm worried about something. Uchicago says the deadline to receive SAT scores is Nov1. Will the October one make it in time?

SAT offered six miserable times a year. and i can't take it in May and June because that's my A-levels finals!

you should ask Uchicago. They will know the best answer.

no reply from them. :( along with 4 other questions i asked earlier.

yet on their website,

All testing must be completed prior to the application deadline.

and no mention about when they must be received.

F**king sucks they're unresponsive to questions, particularly from ED candidates.

If it's not too much on the bill, maybe actually call them during office hours and explain your situation?

Does anybody know when SAT scores are mailed out? The same day it's reported online or a week later? Banedon, do you know how quickly the "rushed" option gets it to universities?

Since most of the unis accept even November SAT scores, I think UChicago accepts the Oct ones. The rushed option sends the results in 2 working days but I don't think you'll need it.

The SATs are mailed out about a week after they're reported online (it'll took much more till they get to Bulgaria and Romania).

actually common sense says they have to accept the OCt ones. if not, when's the earliest? May? Whoever makes a decision so quickly on which colleges they want to attend?

Yes, and common sense also says that your scores will be there on time. Whoever would make students use the rush option for Oct SAT scores? Plus, look at the additional information at the bottom http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/scores.html

one question: if I've already put Brown on my 4 free list of univ to which send my SAT scores for the test in nov, do I still have to rush them?-meaning my knowledge is that the rush system is for the univ that aren't yet on your SAT list.
(Brown says they're OK with the nov testing even for ED)

then don't bother rushing. unless you really think spending that $26 is more worthwhile than giving it to me. :D

what's the temperature now in Malaysia? just curious

day 30 C
night 26 C.

so warm... :) reminds me of summer days and the beach and the sea... casts a dreamy glance through the window and forgets about studying in German

I dream every day about next summer. I just see myself lying in the sun on the vama veche beach.... big smile on her face.... and still dream :)

Oh, I miss Malaysian temperatures...and the food. Never forget the food.

I wonder if anybody's taking the SAT I/II in Dcember...

no one here. :)

Heya ppl!

OK, I absolutely detest Malaysian temperatures. And I don't like the whole air-so-humid-you-could-float-in-it feeling you get when you walk out of the airport and your clothes stick to you like they've been magnetized and you're a hunk of metal. Having said that, the food is the best in the world. No question about it. What's great is that you can get all the unhealthy American stuff as well (e.g. KFC pines, and Famous Amos cookies (!)) But yeah, nothing beats hawker stall food.

Anyway, IzzyJ, since you asked: I really want to go to the US for college because the institutions there are purported to have the best undergraduate experience, both in terms of academic rigour and social interaction. And because the only other place I'm looking at is the UK, where I'm not really cool with the whole picking of a major BEFORE you actually begin studying at the university, and the intense focus on that one subject. I mean, I like math and the sciences and all, but I would really really want to take some other classes, maybe minor in a language, that sort of thing.

And on a tangentially related note, the SAT results come out in... hmm... 27 hours.

I just realized that it was the same day as the last day of the school play (which I'm in...it's a Saturday matinee, usually) and I just wonder if all the seniors at my school who are in the play or helping backstage realize that... Be a bit tricky cause not all of them are applying ED. Be awkward...

It'd be weird having a flock of students come to the school for the SAT's and the guards at the gate checking the ID and then refusing to let the parents and actors through for the play through. :D

~~~~~~~~~
Jsn: Yes! Malaysia's culture seems, sometimes, to be very centered on eating .I mean, 24 hour mamak stores??? And during the month of Ramadan, walking down entire roads of hawker stalls...that's a favorite (though torturous) memory of mine.
Hmmm...yeah, the UK, Malaysia, Australia is very focused when it comes to majors. Can you imagine the hassle of trying to switch majors if you're in your 2nd year?
I wonder how many people ponder the Canadian country for university... I know they ask you to declare a major while applying (at least in Ontario) but I wonder how flexible it is, too. flexes my puny muslces
haha...that would be something. I remember two weeks ago when, because we didn't know exactly how far your highschool was from Bucharest we arived there at 7 o'clock and the guards tols us we wouldn't be allowed to enter till 8 o'clock. and outside was so cold! I got so mad that morning!!! :p - I had woken up at 5 AM!!!!
I'm retaking the SAT I in December:(
