International Schools and Suggestions for International Students...?

I'm applying for boarding schools as an international student from an over-represented country (Canada). I was wondering if there are any good international schools? Would it be easier to be admitted if I applied to an international school? Any suggestions would be extremely helpful to me and hopefully to others like me. Thank you!

From your questions, it’s not clear what your objective is. Is studying in the U.S. the primary goal? Are you interested in studying in Canada? Does the country matter? Is being surrounded by lots of foreign students the primary goal? Is BS for the sake of boarding the primary goal? Is high academic standards the primary goal? Is leaving your present school the primary goal?

The most reputable international schools in the U.S., as far as I know, tend to be day schools primarily. They will be located in places with high concentrations of foreign diplomats and/or expatriate families on an int’l work assignment. Admission priority is often given to kids from these 2 groups.

The BS in the U.S. with MOSTLY int’l students, tend to be filled with full-pay kids from China, S. Korea, Russia, etc whose parents want them to improve their English. There are indeed reputable BS in the U.S. with a sizable number of int’l students, but the best schools will limit the number of kids from any one particular country to maintain diversity.

My goal is to attend a boarding school (as there is no other way I can reside near the school) which offers a more advanced curriculumn than a public school. I chose the united state because I am in need of financial aid and Canadian boarding schools are not known for providing generous amounts of financial aid.
There are no private schools in my area, therefore I can only resort to boarding. I have not the slightest clue about homestay, but I would appreciate it if someone could tell me more about it. Is it a plausible option for me?
