SAT 1:
R - 770
M - 740
W- 710

SAT II:

Italian: 800 (but Ivy schools won't give it as much weight because if I didn't get an 800 it would be surprising)
French: 800 (same deal)

Physics: 780
Math II: 750
World History: 730
Literature: 680

My Essays:

My Supplementary essays were much better. About sailing and my heritage.

My recs:

From my Physics teacher with whom I am doing my Extended Essay (two year project required for the IB diploma). I get mostly 6's and 7's in his class, 2nd best in class.

From my English teacher, I am the second best student in his class.

Misc:

I speak Italian, English and French fluently.
I am 2nd generation to go to college. (my father went to UCSB, and Columbia for Grad school, my mother did medical school in Milan,Italy)
I look white as hell, even though my father is half arab (it's the russian half which he passed on to me)

Intended major in college: Physics with a minor in either Visual Art or Political Science.

Schools I am applying to:

Harvard
Yale (note: 2 classmates were accepted early, does this dramatically reduce my chances?)
Princeton
Columbia (note: 1 classmate accepted early)
Wesleyan
NYU - Gallatin
UChicago
Vassar

Are you applying for financial aid?
I’d say Yale and Princeton are reaches.
Columbia (I’m assuming SEAS) a low reach.
UChicago+Wesleyan matches.
Gallatin a safety. No idea about vassar.

Are you a US citizen? That is very important.

Columbia I’m applying to arts and science but declaring interest in 3-2 program.

I am a US born US citizen - I hold dual nationality with Italy. I am applying for financial aid.

Harvard-reach
Yale -reach
Princeton-reach
Columbia -reach
Wesleyan-not sure
NYU - Gallatin -in
UChicago- match
Vassar- match

U should def include one or more safety schools

harvard/yale/princeton- reach
Columbia- low reach
nyu- in
vassar- no clue
uchicago- match.

I think you have really good stats, but your ECs might bring you down. Not saying they aren’t great, just that some people have the same scores as you and more intensive ECs.

HYP - High reach
Columbia - reach
UChicago - match/low reach
NYU - in

chance me back please! :Dhttp://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/838981-chances-brown-duke-uchicago-northwestern-international-tufts.html

Yale - reach
Princeton - reach
Columbia - reach
Wesleyan - match
NYU - match
UChicago - match
Vassar - match

First of all, i would kill for your grades. they’re pretty good. but were talking about the best schools in the country right here and they see many resumes like yours and many even better. but hey, good luck though!

Harvard - REACH
Yale - REACH (youve got some pretty smart friends to get in here!)
Princeton - reach

other than these three, i would think youre a pretty safe bet everywhere else!

Everything is good but ECs can use some work for those top notch schools.

Harvard - high reach
Yale (note: 2 classmates were accepted early, does this dramatically reduce my chances?) - high reach
Princeton - reach
Columbia (note: 1 classmate accepted early) - reach
Wesleyan - in
NYU - Gallatin - in
UChicago - reach
Vassar - match

First off, I’m not sure if they will count those SATII scores. I know some schools explicitly say you can’t take the SATII in a native language.

Yale —reach
Princeton —reach
Columbia —reach
Wesleyan —match
NYU - Gallatin —match
UChicago —reach
Vassar —match

Your ECs aren’t terribly impressive, but you have a shot.

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/839407-chance-vermonter-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Harvard: reach (but isn’t it for everyone?)
Yale:reach
Princeton: reach
Columbia: reach
Wesleyan: match/ IN
NYU - Gallatin: high match
UChicago: match
Vassar: high match

Good Luck, and help a fellow international out!

Sorry I am a newbie, may I ask what ‘reach’ means? reach for the stars?

Also, can I ask if any language makes more difference than other languages? i.e. is the combi English Mandarin French better than the combi English Korean German? or anything of these sorts.

Harvard: reach
Yale: reach
Princeton: reach
Columbia: reach
Wesleyan: low reach/ high match
NYU - Gallatin: high match/match
UChicago: low reach/high match
Vassar: match

ECs are nothing to brag about, but your test scores and grades are good enough for any of these schools. good luck

Looking at your SAT’s, it’s pretty impressive. However, nothing significant came out of your EC’s and you could easily be forgotten after reading two other essays. Now, I don’t think it means that you are fully rejected or fully accepted. The admission staff looks for someone who has a passion for something and someone who has potential. The way I see it, you have a lot of potential inside of you due to living in various places and broadening your horizons. Why the heck not? APPLY!

guess what? You have the chance to be just as critical as I am, chance me :)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/845277-my-first-attempt-chance-me-gentle.html#post1063880036</a></p>

you can’t look white as hell. heaven is supposed to be white. just kidding

Harvard-low reach
Yale-low reach
Princeton-low reach
Columbia-match
Wesleyan-match
NYU - Gallatin-safety
UChicago-match
Vassar -match

Scores are good! Though ECs are not very good, not many awards or leadership positions…So I’d say Reach for the ivies and low-mid match for the rest.

I agree with the above comments, your grades are good, so that part you shouldn’t worry, A friend of mine with similar grades and scores got accepted to all the Ivys he applied to… He did however, have far more impressive EC and his essay was freakin brilliant. You need to remember that these schools are used to applicants with impressive grades and tests scores, so you can not rely solely on that to get you into an Ivy or any other really good school for that matter… but by all means, apply! :)

Ivies are reaches. You’re ECs are unique, SAT is good, GPA is ok for these schools, but nothing really sets you apart ESPECIALLY since your international.

Vassar, UChicago, and NYU should be within reach. UChicago loves essays, so pray the adcom fell in love with yours.

Best of luck!
Chance back?
