Please chance me for Ivies! I promise I'll chance anyone back!

Now, I know anyone can tell me if I will actually get in, I just want to know if I have a shot, something which can stand out or just an advise on what I can improve to have more chances! I'm particularly interest in Yale and Dartmouth, but I'm considering all of them.

I haven't taken SATs yet, but this is the plan:
SAT I: 2100 +
SAT II: Italian 800 (I'm Italian) ; Latin 750+ (5 hours weekly in high school have to work at least for this!) and maybe Literature 700+

GPA: 7,1 out of 10 (when 8 is considered a 4.00 GPA I think)
RANK: Schools in Italy don't rank, but definitely 5% or 10% (I'm in a class of 18 students by the way)
SENIOR YEAR COURSE LOAD: All high school years are the same here, it's the type of school you choose that makes the difficulty of the course load, and I attend the most difficult one with dept in humanities:
- Italian language and literature
- Latin language and literature
- Ancient Greek language and literature
- English language and literature
- Philosophy
- World History
- Math
- Physic
- Science (mostly biology)
+ Religion and sport

MAJOR AWARDS: none, but I'm planning to enter a local writing contest. I live in a town of 800 inhabitants, so there isn't many possibilities.

ECs:
- Co-founder and co-runner of a Gilmore Girls fan club on Facebook (about 4000 fans and it's really a great community where we also talk about books, films, and passions in general; I will talk about this in the essay about the activity)
- I personally organized the national meeting of GG's fans in Italy, that will take place on September 1 and 2 in Riccione
- Captain of the volleyball team for 7 years by now (no big competitions or anything due to the small school, but still a lot of fun)
- Writing: a fanfiction online got more than 40000 views and more than 400 reviews + a lot of screenwriting works or personal stuff (I entered two competitions)
- Video editing: I will send an art supplement with a video that I've filmed and edited
- Photographing: actually more for personal interest, but also sporadically for an office of my mother's friend
- Travelling : I traveled a lot with school (we've been in Florence, Rome, France, Sicily and we will go to Grace next year probably) and I traveled by my self in Croatia, Austria and other places in Italy.

JOB EXPERIENCE: None

VOLUNTEER/COMMUNITY: None. We're not supposed to do that here, but I'll definitely look for something if it increases my chances.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES: Travelling, reading, writing, photographing and chilling out with friends :)

ESSAYS:
-Common App about a landslide that occurred two years ago in my town and how I reacted to this event and what I understood
-Other essay probably about the power of eyes or about writing

TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS:
-Italian teacher who will show my strength in writing
-Philosophy/history teacher who knows me very well (3 years) and teaches the toughest subjects with a huge expectation from us
-We don't have a counselor so my Latin/Greek teacher who is also kind of a headmaster and has known me for 5 years will write this

GENDER: F
ETHNICITY: W
INCOME: I just say that I need aids or scholarships to attend
HOOK: My parents didn't even finish high school; and maybe the fact that I live in this little community, my school that has a dept in humanities

I really don’t have enough experience with Ivy perspectives on international students to fairly give you an opinion. Sorry!

No problem @antitypical ! I think they don’t have much different criteria BTW

Thank you for the chance @cyrato ! You kinda relived me, I though I was completely inappropriate for those schools!

ECs definitely make you stand out and it shows you have a common interest. Try to aim your SAT towards 2100+(or around 2200 to be on the safe side). I really encourage you to enter those writing contests you were talking about because anything will help at this point.

All the ivy schools are somewhat random. You definitely have a shot if you can get your SAT above 2100. I suggest you apply to all, you’re bound to be accepted by AT LEAST one with your impressive stats!

[Chance me back?](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1369973-chance-me-san-diego-state-univ.html) Haha my stats make me feel inferior to you :P

Also, I second the idea that you should take an SAT subject tests, preferably math ii which is always impressive to colleges. But if you do not think you can do it, check out different subject tests in your area of interest.

A lot of this will just be guessing because 1) we don’t know your SAT yet 2) I don’t understand your GPA system and 3) Ivy admissions are super random.

I’m not really sure how they will view your ECs. You seem to be passionate about them, only they don’t seem to be academic.

I would say that you want at least 2200 on the SAT and then they would be a low reach for you.

I think GPA, SATs and recommendations will show sufficiently my academics, and that ECs have to show what I am passionate about and my leadership which I kind of have since I’ve been captain of a team for seven years and I ran a fan club by my own. I understand that american high school provide all those ECs for students so everything is academic in some ways, but we are supposed to find them alone here (and I hope the admission office will know that) and finding them in a town of 800 people is quite difficult. I know you’re just saying what they will probably think about me, but that was just for the sake of conversation.

The stats are good. But you have to do some type of volunteer activity and that is a must. If you can get a 2100+ on the SAT, you will be able to get into the lower tier Ivy Leagues and have a decent shot for schools like Harvard and Yale.

Just apply to all of the Ivy Leagues and see which ones that accepted, because with stats like that I am pretty sure you will get into one Ivy League school.

Thank you! I think that considering SATII in math is probably a good idea. I will chance you back later :)

Your SAT scores are a bit low for the Ivies, I would try and get them up to 2250+ if you can. Your SAT II’s are pretty impressive, but I would also take Math 2, as it is not very difficult. Good luck?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1370779-chance-me-ucs-some-privates.html</a></p>

I don’t know much about Ivies, but you seem like a really smart candidate! Idk how much the FB group would help, but the fact you organized that meet up might…same with the book…unless you’re published it might not really help…did you win the competitions, or have you not heard back yet? I think it really comes down to your essays and recs, but your scores seem really nice!!! :D

Rank wont matter as much because your class is so small. You will need to do extremely well on the SAT then to prove your academic abilities; aim for a mid 2200+. Good luck!

I think if you’re more passionate about writing, then a writing supplement may be more beneficial then the video tape. I second or maybe third or fourth the math subject test idea. I think you have a pretty great shot since I don’t usually hear about international applicants from Italy. You’ll have a great chance at standing out because of that but try to get that sat score to 2200 at least because of the limited international spots and how competitive some applicants can be. I’m sure your essays will be great just make sure they give insight to who you are and how you think. Please chance a fellow writer back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=1364861</a></p>

I think you have a decent shot at IVies. Just take the SATs and see how you do. You are a strong humanities student. :)

Thank you all, guys!
Other opinions? :)

bumpppppp bummmmmmp buuuuuuuump

All of universities are saying that a subject will not be taken serious if :
-At SAT II you will take both maths(one of them is useless, and you need at least one different than math)
-To a foreign language which is spoken by you as a native language.

Your application it is quite good, but to be admitted in good Universities you need to be very different than a lot of others.

Actually that’s what Dartmouth says in its website: “It is totally fine to take both the Math I and Math II exams, or language exams in which you are a native speaker”
Only Harvard says that one of the two exams can’t be your native language, but since I will take also Latin and or Literature or Math I don’t see the problem in increasing my score with a 800.
