International Student Financial Aid

Hi guys! I am currently an international student in the United States, attending an American high school under my parent’s work visa.I am a legal resident and I have been here a more than a year. Sadly, when I apply for college, I will not have my green card. I have multiple questions concerning my process of application to American universities.

  1. Do I have to leave the country to apply for a F1 visa?
  2. The US immigration office requires proof of financial ability to pay for my education, what if I am not able to provide proof of finance for all four years or even two years at the moment.
  3. What financial aid would I be eligible for?

Can your country of origin provide financial aid?

  1. No you can apply F1 in your country.
  2. You have to prove for AT LEAST one year.
  3. Depends on colleges. You are not eligible any FAFSA/State grant. You should look for good merit scholarships

Apply to Pomona if you have top grades and scores (the Claremont elite school, not the csu school of engineering) since they will consider you alongside all us hs graduates.
What state are you in ? Some will consider you instate for tuition if you graduated from a hs instate, although they typically want 4years in hs.
What type of work visa ? E is treated differently from H.
