Scholarship Info.

I am an international applicant to Rice, and I luckily got in. I am VERY fond of the school so I really want to go to Rice... well, if there just wasn't financial problem.

My family is not rich so it is difficult for me to attend the entire 4 years without fin aid, yet Rice doesn't provide financial aid at all to international students, albeit it provides a lot of merit-based scholarship.

From what I have heard till now the scholarship notification is sent with the f acceptance letter via snail mail, which I have already received. I saw no document regarding scholarship, which must indicate that I receive none.

My family is perhaps able to support me the first year with some savings, but probably not the next three years. Does anyone know if there is any opportunity for an international student like me to receive scholarship by getting good grades in the school? If there is any, what is potential amount and how hard is it to get it?

P.S. is there any way to confirm whether I get scholarship? I mean, I am almost sure I got no scholarship but I would prefer to get a letter that says "you get no scholarship" rather than waiting with groundless hope. Yes, I want to confirm so that I don't make bad decisions.
