Yeah i did, im doing physics in october and bio/chem in dec
I managed to get fee waivers from all but 2 of the schools I’m applying to, final app fee costs: 110$
@41ADAN Nice.
On the common app all you need is your counselors agreement and support and u pay 0$ for ur apps there
Btw I’m applying to:
MSU
LMU
MIT
Lafayette
Northwestern
UAH
Duke
Central Arkansas
MSU and UAH are the only ones I couldn’t get a fee waiver from.
Whya re you applying to so many state schools? ARKANSAS?
i think he is going after full rides, which are rare. but if he has the grades why not
@paul2752 looking for full rides, Central Arkansas was the closest to a safety that I could find, I was tempted to drop it off the list but ultimately decided to keep it jic
@41ADAN You should also be realistic , because even if u have amazing grades that don’t guarantee a full ride, u should check colleges that give great fin aid too not just direct full rides based on grades
But ur list is pretty fine
Yeah, need based aid, but yup, looks good. @41ADAN
SAT tomorrow. Positive thoughts. I’ve got this.
Apply to the Robertsons at Duke too @41ADAN
@gigichuck damn, after all I looked around I don’t know how I missed that scholarship, thanks a million, tomorrow after SAT I’ll fill the app
It also exists at UNC.
How was the SAT? Mine was easy for me
Lol. I nearly had a heart attack at the end because I didn’t write before gridding in, but then I found out it’s okay. The scanner doesn’t see that anyway. So it was nice. Not sure how well I’ll do, but I feel pretty confident. I’m just glad the main testing is over.
Stage 2: time to wrap up those essays and submit my early apps. I’m applying EA to LMU, Agnes Scott, Uchicago, Urichmond, Lynn and Notre Dame, then Minerva, if I can change it (I already indicated RD because I thought I was going to do Princeton SCEA, but I moved my subject tests to December, so it’s Princeton RD for me).
How’re your apps going, guys?
My SAT was fine up to the calculator section, I was too slow and missed 6 questions and I forgot guessing isn’t penalised, I guess the lack of sleep really screwed me over this time. But overall I think I’m scoring higher than last time (had a total of 17 wrong answers).
Tomorrow I’m going to fill in all the essays and send the applications, I still have to check which ones have early action instead of Early Decision but checking that will only take about 5 minutes anyway.
Honestly I’m betting on the Subject Tests to really boost my chances of a scholarship.
@gigichuck what is ur gpa? @41ADAN check if ur colleges require sat2 before doing them
Some schools recommend, but do not require subject tests. That said, the SAT is more a measure of aptitude, whereas the subject tests are more a measure of academic knowledge. Not likely a higher subject test score will compensate for less stellar SAT scores.
The discontinuation of the penalty for guessing was announced in 2015 and implemented (first in the fall 2015 PSAT) in the SAT in March of 2016. You would have been in 10th grade (or its equivalent, since you are international) then. Most students who are seniors now really had little to no formal exposure to the old SAT format (informal perhaps if they used them for practice tests) so it seems unusual that one would “forget” that the guessing penalty went way a year and a half ago. Are you a traditional student, about 17 yrs old?
