Hi all, I'm an prospective international student from Hong Kong. I know that a lot of factors are considered in the admission process, but I most worried about the SAT part. I would like to ask what is an acceptable SAT score range for international students? I got 740(M)/700(WR)690(CR) in the Dec 06 test (as a F6 student). I will retake in Dec, and I just want to know what my improvement goals should be. Thanks a lot =)

You're OK. But if you must, 2200 is what's considered 'good' out here (although I think your 2130 isn't very shoddy in the first place!)

i don't mean to sound blunt, but if you're not applying for financial aid, your chances of admission are high.

Thanks a lot! I will try to improve English sections next try if I can. I won't be applying for financial aid (because my school does not allow their applicants to somehow, or else they won't even write recommendation letters). Two additional things I would like to ask, does the pool of accepted ED students have a generally higher scores? And does what major you choose affect your chances of admission?

what major you choose doesn't really affect your chances. however, if you select a different school, that is, the school of engineering instead of the school of liberal arts, then yes. you'll have different yardsticks (each different for LA and Eng respec)
I'm not sure if they release statistics about ED aplicants only. however, if you're intl and not applying for aid and if you clearly want to go to Tufts, heck, apply ED and cruise through the last half of your hs senior year.

If you're an International non-US Citizen, your chances of getting financial aid are tiny; only a few specific awards are available.

Also, although Tufts admissions is not need-blind it's still pretty difficult for ppl who don't need aid to get in.

Like what ignited said, if you are not applying for financial aid as an international, you have a very high chance of getting in.

source?! 10chars

come to tufts and calculate for yourself what the average intl student's sat average/high school gpa/rank is and compare it with the american average. i go to school here and i can tell that there is a difference. by the way, i'm an intl student myself.

Thanks for all the replies :) I just hope that comes true! I just want to ask is the difference in scores/gpa/blah between int. students and American students quite noticeable?
