International Students

Good day Cadets,
I am an international student from the Republic of Ghana, possibly considering transfer to a service academy. I am wondering if there are any international students admitted to the Naval Academy. If they are admitted, what are some of the procedures that they have to go through during the admission process. Thank you.

I am currently studying at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, so I would like to know in case I transfer.

International Candidates:

In the interest of international and Navy-to-Navy relations, up to 60 students from certain foreign countries may be enrolled at the academy. The Department of Defense selects and notifies the countries that may nominate candidates. Selection of nominees to attend the academy is made by the Naval Academy International Admissions Board in late April.

If you are not an American citizen, completion of a Preliminary Application is not necessary. Information concerning application procedures for foreign nationals may be requested from the Naval Attache at the U.S. Embassy in your home country.

Hope this helps you & good luck to you!

yeah USNA do accept internationals, but it's usually only about 10 students out the 1200 incoming midshipmen. I am an international student due to report to the class of '09 in 9 days time. You need to get in contact with the defense attach
