International Transfer. Need help and information please!

Hi everyone,

I would be very grateful if you could share any helpful information (and its sources or just any useful, pertinent websites, if possible) on my situation.
I'm a US permanent resident, but I graduated from an international high school in 2006, and now I'm a 3rd year student at a 5-year university.
1. Can I apply as a freshman if I'm willing to give up all my current credits? I suspect the preponderant majority of schools will not let me do it, but maybe there have beed precedents?
2. If I apply as a transfer, how will it affect my financial aid chances? I try to stick to 100% of need met schools due to grave financial situation, so are there school that remain "100% of need met" for transfers?

Thanks in advance!

Why? Don't you wanna get the credit for all the courseworks you already completed? It will save you time and money. Think about it.

I'm afraid you cant.
Green card holder could apply for FAFSA. and "100% of need meet" depends on what school you apply. and btw, you are a junior, so your transfer standing might be a senior??

I would love to transfer if I weren't sure that, compared to freshman admission, transfer admission will reduce my chances and limit financial aid. The other point is that I'm now attending a university in my home country (Kyrgyzstan); therefore, I don't believe many credits will be transferable.

Don't think so, junior at best.

SO!!! Does anyone know a good college that might accept my freshman application?! Have there been any incidents when students like me started all over again?

By the way, I can't find CEEB/ACT code for my school, neither can I see what I should type in instead. Please help )))

I can't think of any schools that will let you do this. The most I've ever seen is a college letting you apply as a freshman if you haven't completed a year of work.

agree with entomom. even though they dont accept your college credits, you cant apply as a freshman. :) Be honest.

CEEB code for your current school in your home country? why do u need that? if you are filling out common app, just leave blank, or type 0000 into it.

I have a foreign academic credentials myself. I always thought that i'm not gonna be able to transfer all the courseworks i completed until a counselor suggested a third party credentials evaluator like WES World Education Services - International Education Intelligence or any foreign credentials evaluator who are members of NACES NACES® Members

A lot of the community colleges, state universities and independent colleges and universities use this service because many of their admissions and academic staff are not equiped to deal with the complexities of other nations educational system. You need to request a comprehensive course by course evaluation. Although theirs is only an advisory opinion, the final acceptance of the credit rest on the colleges that you'll apply. In my case, i actually got so much credit that i started as a senior. I also got the maximum money from stafford as a senior. Believe me, i'd rather start as a senior than a freshman. Saved me a lot of money and a lot of hard work. College ain't easy my friend. I'm also able to get a part time job.

Guys, sorry for my absence!

juliuscesar1212! Thank you so much for the idea! Exactly! I've felt like I could never transfer any of courses, your experience is elevating )))
