International transfer TOEFL waiver

Hello,

I am an international student from a country where English is not the official language. But I have GED from the U.S.
Now, I am currently in a community college in Arkansas. Also, I finished all the college English courses. Do I need to submit my TOEFL score to finish my application?

UT Austin admission webpage, “Graduate from a high school in the United States or in a country where English is the only official language after completing at least three years of study”

I sent an email to the admission office but they told me “If you qualify for an exemption of the TOEFL/IELTS requirement, it will be waived when the UT Austin admissions officers check your transcripts during the review process. Until then, that requirement in your application will remain incomplete.” It is already 3 weeks ago and still, my status is in-complete.

I am nervous and worried about this situation.

Thank you for reading this.

Their rule says you have to graduate from a US high school after a minimum of 3 years of attending classes there. How many years did you attend high school here? Why did you get a GED instead of graduating from the school? I’m not sure they’ll count that as graduating from a high school.

Because of my health concern, I’ve been the U.S from August 2017 and got GED January 2019.

So you studied in a US high school for a year and a half? Their requirement is 3 years. Since you were only in high school for half that time I’d expect to have to submit the TOEFL.

If you’re a permanent resident, then you’re exempt because you “attended a U.S. institution of higher education immediately prior to enrollment at the university.” If you aren’t, I’m not sure if the GED counts as graduating but I hope it does!! Best of luck
