TOEFL/IELTS Waiver

So, given that UT Austin's application deadline is tomorrow, I am now literally kicking himself for not having seen that line that says: International students must take either TOEFL/IELTS.

What happened to the good ole' waiver?

I have at least a 720 CR, and a 680 SAT II English Literature (yea, it's pretty low, but still...). Really, is IELTS/TOEFL still required? :(

Another option for me would be to risk it, and take a TOEFL test on December 7th (given that UT Austin requires all scores to be sent in by December 31st), but I have read that it takes at least three weeks for the scores to be sent in.

Gah, I guess I'm really frustrated now. Most schools have a TOEFL/IELTS waive for international students with a certain CR score, but guess UT Austin isn't one of them...

On another hand, I could probably call their admissions office and ask for a waive...

Email them Monday first thing (it’s the THanksgiving holiday right now).
Ask if they require the TOEFL for students with your scores. If they do, try to find an open date but be warned that most of them are likely full since November and December are the busiest times for this test.

And yes, since each college and university sets its own policy about English proficiency exams, there are many that require TOEFL/IELTS/another exam for students with SAT scores even higher than yours. TOEFL English is not automatically “easier” than SAT English because the TOEFL is designed to evaluate your proficiency in English language skills and vocabulary that aren’t evaluated in the SAT English sections. Some institutions do want to know if you have those abilities or not.
