Hi, so I’ve already submitted all the required materials to UT Austin. I just sent in my TOEFL score (12/27/2015). According to ETS, the estimated SHIPPING date is January 1st. However, according to the UT Austin, the deadline for test scores is December 31, 2015. But on MyStatus, it only talks about SAT and ACT + writing scores being due on that date. Does anybody know if there is a different TOEFL deadline? Also, I’ve lived in America for 11 years of my life, and attended school while I lived in the United States. I will have attended an English-speaking international school (classes are taught in 100% English) for 6 years by the time I graduate. Does this qualify me for a TOEFL waiver? I already emailed them today and am planning on calling them tomorrow.
im confused about the ‘country where English is the only official language after completing at least three years of study.’ doesnt this mean the same thing as a country where english is the official language?
English is not the only official language of South Korea so regardless of how long you have studied there it won’t meet the exemption requirements. It is good that you are reaching out to them directly since the website is vague about the TOEFL deadline.
For example, English is an official language of Canada, but it is not the official language. As mentioned earlier, your best bet is to contact UT. Common sense would say that you should not need TOEFL, but nobody said that all colleges exhibit common sense, and policies regarding TOEFL requirements vary greatly by university.
