International transfers?

is there such a thing? can I transfer from a Canadian university to an American college? are they rare?

just curious

I'm guessing you probably could (I hope so, because thats what I'm trying to do too) but its probably difficult/a pain in the a$$

That's redundant, the whole American system is a pain in the ass.

Of course you can transfer. Depending on what courses you have already taken, you might find yourself in a less-than-favorable position though. For example, you might have to catch up on the general education requirements once you get to the US and spend your last two years taking intro classes outside of your major (foreign languages, literature, history, sciences, etc).

I'm currently a transfer student at an American school. I already have a degree in my chosen area, and decided I wanted another degree from the US. I received my previous degree from a school in my home country, and didn't think it would be any use to me in America. I applied as a freshman, and then recieved a call that I was eligible to apply as a transfer. They skipped me into the sophomore class, and I still have to fulfill all of my LBA's, etc., however, some classes transfered, so I should be able to get out a semester early. Also, I just want to say, don't rule out school that only give out $10,000 a year to international students. I dealt with the Dean of Admission directly, and before I knew it, I arrived in America with a $17,050 scholarship. Some smaller colleges are desperate to increase their ALANA and International demographics, and I'm so glad I picked a smaller school.

Admissions is a game. Think before you make a move.
