I'm sort of confused as to what exactly counts as an "international applicant/student". I am a US citizen, born in the US, and my family owns a house there. However, I have lived abroad for most of my life, and do not have residency. Does this then make me a US applicant/student or an international?

You are an US applicant, as you have US citizenship. However, because your achievements are in a different educational system, they would be considered in the light of your circumstances.
