Internationals... After College, what's next?

Hi there!

Does anyone know what internationals do AFTER college?

I'm Columbia COllege Class of 2011 but I'm worried that im gonna go , major in whatever, and not be able to get a job - getting booted back home instead. (Not that i dont like Australia - i love it :D)

And then what about grad school... business... law... etc

Kinda freakin' out! :D

v

Well, it's rather hard to get a working visa with only a Bachelor's degree.
You can save your OPT time until after graduation if you would like so that you can at least work in the States for a year without worrying about a visa.
Otherwise you would probably have to go to grad school either in the States or in Australia.

For internationals, there is close to no financial aid available for business, law or medical school. The situation is better for grad school in liberal arts where you can finance your studies with a teaching or research assistantship.

Btw, there are additional working visas just for intls who have earned their grad degree in the States, so finding employment should not be an issue once you have a grad degree.

OPT time>?

when ur saying financial aid... do u mena just grants or even loans...

Coz dont most take out loans??

Anyway, surely there would be plenty of ppl employing Columbia College graduates international or not... right?

financial aids are not loan
as an international student you cannot take loan

you can look for Financial aid for the needy. but coming from Australia. You will be like the Singapore looking for aid for undergrad. very hard! they don't give you, you still can get a quality education back home. if you are from Lebanon or Indonesia chances are brighter.

For your Info this your H1B VISA (for Bach and Masters of Arts degrees) quota is up within a week application starts!
so when getting your OPT plan well!

internationals CAN take loans!... u need a US resident/citizen co-signer though!..

haha... then it is as good as the American or Perm Residence taking loan..
U are cute...

huh? I don't get ur point wega!

can we stick to the topic?

i know that at stanford you can get an RA or TA position in business school and in the grad engineering program, the process is competitive but i would think the process would also be so in liberal arts also
