Just want to warn fellow int'ls to apply for your visas as soon as you get your I-20s! I don't know about your countries, but in Thailand, right now it takes at least 2 months and 1 week from the day you submit your visa app to get an interview. There were so many people that I had to stand in line for 4 hours straight just to submit my app!

If you haven't got your I-20, what you can do now is to fill out your visa app. I had to fill out 3 forms, each of which takes about an hour. Finish them up and prepare all the necessary docs, so that you can turn them in with your I-20 as soon as the I-20 arrives.

Hah, I remember the time when they told me it would take 8 months just to get a SSN. And let's not forget obtaining a drivers license in a third world country, what fun.

yeah in singapore if I apply >90 days before I arrive in the US I'll have to go back at a later date to get my visa pasted in my passport. DHL is supposed to come in a few hours.. I-20 where are you...?

hey are there any international students here who are not living in the country of their citizenship? coz i am, and was wonderin whether i will get major problems in applying for a visa. and my i-20 is only coming in abt 2 weeks!

Hmm... ath, I don't know, but I don't think so. In many cases, it's even easier to get a US visa in a country that is not your country of citizenship.

Mithopefulgirl, quite a few people didn't get their I-20s in their packets! I hope you'll get yours soon.
